Her rivers and her history
We visit Tarija’s enchanting countryside to learn about its history, listen to its rivers and share the customs of locals.
The tour
We also visit the historic town of San Lorenzo, home of independence fighter Eustaquio “Moto” Méndez. We tour his home, now a museum, the colonial church and its market, where we can enjoy “rosquetes” and other local pastries and drinks. We then travel to the community of Lajas and then to Coimata, where we can see a waterfall and its crystal clear pool, all of which are part of the Sama Biological Reserve. We take a brief mountain trek to finish the tour by the San Jacinto Reserve, a beautiful body of water more than 750 hectares in size.
This tour includes visits to the Moto Méndez Museum, tasting of local pastries and drinks, private transport, and a specialized guided tour.
Half a day (4 to 6 hours)
We recommended that you travel in comfortable clothing, hat, sunglasses, and use sun block or suntan lotion.
